DoW SkillBridge Opportunities
All Risk Shield participates in the Department of War SkillBridge program, offering transitioning service members a structured pathway into wildfire mitigation and operational roles.
SkillBridge participants receive hands-on training, field experience, and mentorship while preparing for post-service careers in risk management and wildfire defense.
SkillBridge training may include:
Wildfire property assessments and risk evaluation
Pump systems, drafting, and defensive water delivery
Portable wagon pumps and property defense setups
Gel application and nozzle operations
Field operations, logistics, and readiness planning
Professional documentation and client communication

Fire Control Technicians are technical specialists responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining ARS wildfire defense systems and equipment.
Responsibilities may include:
• Installing and maintaining pump systems and supporting infrastructure
• Supporting gel application and nozzle operations
• Performing system testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance
• Documenting installations, inspections, and corrective actions

Fire Defense Experts lead wildfire property defense operations and oversee field activities during elevated fire threat periods.

• Coordinating with internal leadership and partner agencies
• Maintaining clear documentation and after-action reporting
